This character was my first VRChat avatar which meant I needed to learn a few things such as optimizing the mesh from 80k down to 32k polys , creating texture atlases to reduce material count. I also learned blend shapes for facial expressions and implementing it in the unity engine. I made the model’s clothes in marvelous designer and Retopologized the clothes

This game ready character is my most complicated project yet and my current obsession, I wanted to venture into realistic style characters inspired by: “God Of War” and “The Witcher”

I wanted to challenge myself and improve my handpainting skills and learn a different workflow from what I’m used to, by going through base > values > colors and finally some touch ups. Given the handpainted nature of this project I looked for feedback from my 2D artist friends in our community to do the final adjustments.

its a collection of work i did for upcoming unannounced game called fire march by rat munch studio, I worked as the main 3d artist for a while, making up the texture style that the rest of the artists follow since and created most of the characters in the game including rigs. I made all that I showcase here in this project. P.S its their first game so for now they dont have links to it yet.

Original Concept art by: Raël Lyra. From a single poster, To a full model. That was the challenge I took when I see my favorite studio release a teaser poster for their new IP. I hand painted all the textures, rigged her and finally made all the cloth in marvelous designer with multiple layers of clothings.

As a 3D character artist I believe it’s crucial to practice sculpting in a traditional sense. I feel that through the limitations and access to techniques I can’t do in digital I improve a lot faster

I designed this character from scratch, concept art to final model. With this project I learned anime proportions and some technique about shading and modeling the eyes in a way that makes it read like traditional 2D anime from multiple angles, and it was my most complicated piece In term of handpainting cloth and I studied cloth by doing 2d painting on clothing pieces with ref to understand how to works. I later implemented it in the unity engine and inside VRChat.
One of the perks of being a 3D artist is that you can create your own VRChat avatar. So I thought about one of my favorite anime as a kid, bakugan battle brawlers. And I replicated Dan Kuso for myself

Code 17 was made for the final exam at @Gloria's 3D Art School, and subsequently my first character ever. It was challenging to model the hair as it was my second attempt at hair, I learned a lot about facial expressions, the importance of slight movements and also some body physics and rigging. The ref for the character was made by @Tori
